Go Behind the Scenes with Two Q&As Today!
You may have gotten an email or two from us about The Voice & Vision Film Festival. It’s been an exciting few days at The Picture House! The festival got started with a lively night at Party on Kraft, where Voice & Vision Awards were given to Stephanie Diaz-Matos, a music supervisor who has worked on shows like Lost, The Affair, and The Get Down, and who got an early start in the entertainment industry working at her hometown independent theater — The Picture House, actress and Picture House ambassador Hayley Atwell, and our own TPH President Laura deBuys. Over the weekend, we’ve had special screenings, Q&As, and workshops at both theaters. It’s been a true celebration of film, and we’re grateful to the TPH community for supporting us by coming out to participate.
If you’re still in a festival mood, there are two special events happening today, Sunday, May 21 — the last day of the Voice & Vision Film Festival 2023.
Small Town, Big Hope: Pelham Love, made by local filmmaker Jeff Watkins, screens at TPH Pelham at 1:00 this afternoon. This documentary is a vibrant, and vital, portrait of a town wrestling with racial relationships in the wake of George Floyd’s death. There will be a post-screening Q&A with Jeff Watkins. Visit The Picture House website for tickets.
Over at Bronxville, the stirring documentary Afghan Dreamers screens at 5:00 pm, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker David Greenwald, producer David Cowan, and Afghan advocate Zarifa Adiba; hosted by Hearts & Homes for Refugees. Visit The Picture House website for tickets.
