What’s happening at The Picture House

Membership Matters

by Laura deBuys

We talk about the Picture House mission having three focus areas: film, education, and community. At the core of that community are our members.

Our members come from all over Westchester, from the Bronx, and a few brave and dedicated souls from the further reaches of New York City, the Hudson Valley, and Connecticut. Their support is absolutely critical from a financial standpoint. You may not know that we send up to 65% of admissions revenue back to the film distributors so we need to raise 50% of our expenses annually through grants, donations, and the generosity of our members.

And members give us more than financial support — they are our sounding boards. They keep us in touch with all of the communities within our larger Picture House community. Member events, from free screenings to cocktails parties to our annual Leadership Breakfast, are opportunities for our community of members to enjoy time together and to give us feedback on programs and more.

The long and short of it is, membership matters — and we’re delighted that this year we’re able to offer our members so much more — TWO locations, FIVE screens, plus more special events and member benefits than ever before.

Each May, we celebrate our membership, and this year we’re offering a special incentive to new and existing members to show our gratitude for their support.

If you join or renew before the end of May, we’ll provide an extra two months of membership — a 14-month membership for the price of 12, at any level.

Please visit www.thepicturehouse.org/membership or call Sam Coughlin at 914.920.2359 for more information. We hope to see you at the movies (in Bronxville and Pelham) soon!
