What’s happening at The Picture House

The Movies. And More!

by Laura deBuys

At The Picture House, our mission guides our decisions, and that mission focuses on three areas: Film, Education, and Community. It’s not just the movies (just look at the back of our staff t-shirts)! It’s The Movies. And More.

The 2022 holiday season was a clear example of this, from an interactive, book-based event with author Kevin McMahon (and Santa!), to community screenings of It’s a Wonderful Life, and a knock-out evening of music with Not So Silent Night. It was the movies and much, much more for the Picture House community.

That will continue in 2023. We’ll still bring you the very best films available, but we’ve got more in store! January brings a new Film Club season to TPH Bronxville, plus a special screening of the digitally remastered Cheap Shots with a Q&A with some of the people who made the film; February marks the beginning of the Winter Season of Film Club at TPH Pelham, as well as February break camp at both theaters. Look to March for a new concert inspired by music at the Oscars. Mark your calendar for our Italian Film Festival in April, and the new Voice and Vision Film Festival (plus Party on Kraft and the first annual Voice & Vision Awards) in May; and — well — more!

We are excited to begin another year of programming for this wonderful community, and it must begin with a thank you to those who make more possible. Special thanks to Compass Bronxville and Rich in Relationships for sponsoring the community screenings of It’s a Wonderful Life, and to all of you who have supported The Picture House Regional Film Center this year!
